Customer:
Brf Smörslottsparken in Gothenburg has been built in various stages by the listed property company Balder. The third phase consists of 297 newly produced apartments with 645 measuring points.
The end customer in the project is Brf Smörslottsparken.
Infometric's customers are property owners and housing associations, which it helps by effectively measuring and reducing their energy costs and making them more environmentally efficient. The services offered are IMD (Individual Metering and Billing), charging of consumption from charging points and "Shared Electricity". Since 1995, Infometric has collected more than one billion metering values.
Infometric is the market leader and has offices in Sollentuna and Gothenburg.
The Challenge:
Measurement of hot water, cold water and temperature in 297 apartments.
The requirement was that the collection should be done with a wired M-Bus system. Along with the measurement collection, the assignment also included Infometrics IMD-System Infosam.
During the construction of Smörslottsparken, there were requests to supplement the collection with heat quantity measurement. The challenge was that construction had already begun and the remodelling of the sewerage system would involve major reconstruction costs.
The Solution:
In order to overcome the high rebuilding costs that retrofitting ducting would require, Infometric suggested supplementing with a wireless M-Bus system.
"Of course, it's more cost-effective to get this in during the design phase, but it's an incredible opportunity to be able to add wireless meters at a later stage."
says Mikael Jungersten, responsible for project sales for BRF's region West and South.
PiiGAB's Gateway 900T/S makes it possible to combine both wired and wireless meters in the same gateway.
The heart of the collection system is the PiiGAB 900S gateway that collects the measurement data. Based on the collected data, the heat in the apartments is optimised to save energy, finances and the environment. The consumption of each apartment's hot water is sent to the IMD system for individual billing to the apartment owners.
In the current project, the addition of heat quantity measurement was ultimately not chosen, but the ability to offer this is a strength.
"PiiGAB is at the forefront of development. They have technically good products with several different ports that allow you to update the device and reprogramme it easily," continues Mikael Jungersten

Solution facts
The PiiGAB M-Bus 900 converter collects measurement values from thousands of measurement points. When the values are collected, the QuickPost application is used to automatically post the values to an FTP server where they are imported into the IMD systems.
With the Wireless add-on, wireless M-Bus meters can be read into the same gateway.
