The electricity meter change affects the property owner

The possibility for the property owner to read out data directly via the electricity meter's M-Bus port or pulse output will disappear when the electricity grid companies change the main electricity meters in all properties. All new electricity meters have the HAN-P1 port instead.

So what is the HAN-P1 port, which the new electricity meters are equipped with? The purpose of the HAN-P1 port is for electricity customers to be given the opportunity to connect external equipment in order to get a better overview of their consumption and be able to act accordingly. For property owners, this creates even greater opportunities to control and optimize the property with access to instantaneous values.

What equipment do I need to continue or start optimizing the property with data from the electricity meter? The solution is called the PiiGAB HAN-P1 Converter. New smart electricity meters data directly to the BMS system to act in real time. Of course with M-Bus.

What data can I read out?

Requirements for new electricity meters

In 2018, the government made the decision that the electricity grid companies in Sweden must replace or upgrade all electricity meters to modern smart electricity meters with improved functions before the year 2025.

All new electricity meters installed in Sweden must have the customer interface HAN-P1/RJ12. Via HAN-P1, you get instant access to, for example, meter readings, active power and reactive power.

Exception

Energy companies Sweden has created an industry recommendation for the HAN port on Swedish electricity meters. However, some electricity grid companies were quick and replaced electricity meters before the recommendation was completely clear. As a result, there are now also electricity meters with the Norwegian variant of the HAN port. The difference is that the Norwegian version uses an RJ45 connector, while the Swedish version uses an RJ12 connector.

This splitter can also be used if several HAN-P1 units are to be connected in the same electricity meter.

Follows protocol standard

PiiGAB HAN-P1 Converter converts IEC 620056-21 to M-Bus (EN-13757-2, 3). The electricity meter's data is seen as an M-Bus meter. In PiiGAB 900 Smart Metering Gateways, the measurement data can then be converted to other protocols such as Modbus.
