Our journey

PiiGAB was founded already in 1989 by Bertil, however at that time it was purley a hobby for him. Already from the start Bertil had a vision to develop innovative communication solutions that promote the environment. Since the core competence was within the development of drivers this is where PiiGAB started from.

In 2001 Bertil quit his day job and started working fulltime with PiiGAB. Shortly thereafter a request came for an M-Bus driver for Citect. This was a hard and grueling task that possibly would not have been successful without his daughter Alexandra. Bertil drove his daughter to swim practice every day and while waiting far up in the stands he brought his pen and paper to write down ideas. The many hours spent at the poolside was the key to developing this driver.

This driver started spinning the wheel for us at PiiGAB. The requests started pouring in, and one thing led to another and eventually the customers started requesting hardware. Bertil then convinced his good friend Thomas Rook to work with him to develop a hardware prototype. This was the starting point for our hardware development and in conjunction with this Fredrik entered the picture. With his hardware competence it didn’t take long for us to release our first hardware, the PiiGAB M-Bus 810.

The PiiGAB M-Bus 810 was a success from the start thanks to many companies believing in us. At this point requests started to come in for the possibility to communicate with M-Bus to superior systems. Together with OPC Labs the idea to develop an M-Bus OPC server started to take place. In 2007 our first big export order of the PiiGAB M-Bus OPC Server came in and we got even busier.

Expanding the personnel was now a must and Anna started working for us to take care of both the stock and deliveries. Two years later the swimming daughter came back from America with an MBA under her belt to start working with marketing. 2010 was a very eventful year for us, the next generation hardware, the PiiGAB M-Bus 900, was developed and the company grew and changed. We expanded with Gudjon on the developing side and Stefan on the support side. There was also a generation change in the leadership with Alexandra taking over the roll as CEO from Bertil, who now wanted to focus more on his core in software development. Towards the end of 2012 we had the privilege to welcome yet another colleague in Madelen as our new market coordinator.

We cannot see into the future, however we know that the original PiiGAB vision of developing products to promote the environment has taken place and new ideas are constantly being discussed. We welcome you to follow our continuing journey!
